Exploring Firms’ Digital Transformation. An Empirical Assessment of its Determinants and Impacts.

The thesis aims at understanding the drivers and impacts of firms’ digital transformation. Using both a firm-level and an industry-level perspective, the three chapters assess the constraints and the impacts of adopting digital technologies, namely Industry 4.0 technologies, and the implications for firms’ performance, organisational structure, financing dynamics, and the industry-level impacts on international trade.
